Yeah i’m not sure! It must be such a grueling decision regardless. Is the worry that even yearly breast exams or six month ones can fail in detection of cancer should it arise?

And doesn’t the BRCA gene also affect ovaries too? Or is that something else? Becuase I remember Angelina Jolie also got her ovaries removed for similar reasons. (Her mother passing away factored into her decision.)

yes. A family member had a prophylatic mastectomy only to be diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. Positive for the BRCA gene.

The BC gene can effect different areas. But, I am assuming it would start in the breast’s before metastasizing. Or perhaps she’s waiting to complete her family before having a hysterectomy.
