I’ve worked around social workers. Most wouldn’t be all that good at this sort of thing. Think about what social workers actually do for a living, and then imagine the sort of ‘flying squad’ of social workers that would be required to intervene in situations like this. Would they be sitting around a table at social work headquarters waiting for an emergency call or would they be on a roving patrol? “SW patrol #4; incident at Highland Apts. #17”?

Wrong social workers. The social workers we’re talking about deal with this sort of thing EVERY SINGLE DAY. Crisis intervention social workers live in this world. And never shoot anybody.
