Here is the breakdown of acting nominations at the BL-MMY'S
Percentage: White actors: 60.7% (68 of 112) Black: 35.7% (40 of 112) Other: 3.6 (4 or 112)
There was only ONE hispanic/latino actor nominated. Rain Valdez for a short form comedy series. The remaining nonwhite actors were Sandra Oh, Ramy Youssef, and Dev Patel.
Hollywood said they wanted to accurately represent America. But it turns out Hollywood is racist to anyone not black including Latinos, Asians, Middle Eastern and Indian actors.
How woke! How progressive!
Squeaky wheel and reverse racism.
LOL - Affirmative action is running amuck in the way-out-of-proportion number of blacks in commercials and movie reviews are clearly inflated based upon the proportion of blacks in the cast as well as the story line.
It has reached an absurd and embarrassing level.
Exactly. Who would want to get an award without feeling that they had justly earned it?
There are plenty of black actors who have a tremendous stage presence. They’re fully capable of winning without this woke condescension.
Part of what's happening is that the suits in these big companies have caved to the mob (and some of them, like Disney, have been leading the mob). The word has gone out from the suits to prioritize diversity. I don't have a sense of how toxic it's gotten -- here and there, white people are still being hired -- but clearly the industry is now far beyond quotas and into systematic anti-white discrimination. I suspect that the decision makers at Hulu or Miramax or HBO or Dreamworks or any of the myriad other operational units are being evaluated on their success in hiring anyone but white people. It doesn't matter if X is a brilliant young actress and script Y is perfect for her: if she's the wrong color, it's a hard sell, and potentially a career ender for people in management if the film doesn't work out.
In theory this should create opportunities for independent filmmakers who may be less vulnerable to corporate pressure. But Hollywood is now requiring diversity targets to qualify for Oscars, so there's a penalty if you don't knuckle under. And I'm concerned about the concentration of power in the distribution channels. Will independent films be able to get decent distribution deals and reach large audiences? Films are too expensive to be done on a samizdat basis. I'd like to think that a writer, director or producer with a good idea is still able to pitch the idea, attract financial backers, hire who he wants, make a good film without kowtowing to the race police, and still get it in play. But I'm starting to worry. I'd be happy to let the majors destroy themselves with political correctness, but if their corporate parents control the distribution, they may be able to block the competition.
Squeaky wheel.
Other races don’t riot.
nope
Not until 100% of the nominees are black.
Just give everybody a participation trophy and send them home.
Emmy show to hollywood: Yes your show was popular and the acting and writing great but you see it is all about quota’s now so go away and do not bother us ‘woke’ people.
No talents will get awards more then ever. See below.
