Does Betsy D (no idea how to spell her last name) have an control over the teachers unions? The NEA? Who is in a position to make this garbage stop, other than the parents who either have no clue or perhaps feel helpless.

Betsy DeVos has no control over the teachers unions or the NEA - both of which are typically controlled by Demonrats, especially in California.

The states have the primary role in what the curriculum is - the feds can suggest but not require compliance in this area. (simple answer)

In California, the CTA is a major cash cow for political campaigns through the CTA PAC. As of 2018 teachers aren't legally required to be part of a union to keep their jobs.

Answer: No, DeVoss has no control or authority over the teacher's union. Furthermore, the NEA despite her and lobby against her.

In 4 years as a teacher in Texas I refused to join the union. It was a battle. Since its inception the NEA has been in favor of educating children to be socialists. Well documented fact.
