I’ve never heard of a Dominican one, either-but there aren’t any Dominicans around here-our ancestors came from Mexico-the only Caribbean Hispanics I know are from Florida-either from Puerto Rico or Cubans whose parents escaped from Castro’s socialist paradise to Miami-I’ve never met anyone from the Dominican Republic...
A couple of years ago, an innocent young teen was murdered in a “bodega” in the Bronx. IIRC the victim and his killers were Dominican.
In nearby north Newark NJ the first group was Puerto Ricans in the 1950s, then Cubans in the 1960s, and within the past couple of decades a lot of Dominicans (even a lot of South Americans now). Along the Hudson River in NJ there are a lot of Cubans (Union City/West New York), and across the river is “Spanish Harlem” (I believe that was primarily Puerto Rican).
