In the 80’s I applied to emigrate to Australia, I figured they are a lot like us and there is plenty of room for a man to roam.

I had a job lined up working on their Collins class submarines, I would have been living in the Melbourne/Adelaide area.

They rejected me Lol
I wound up in Texas

All was well, since Oz went hard left shortly after

When I was young I thought about applying for Oz too. It was a point in my life when I was adrift and feeling somewhat useless. Getting a letter from another country telling me I’d be useless there too would not have helped.

My mother used to go on rants about moving there in the 70’s so that none of her boys would be drafted and sent to Vietnam. This kind of talk would really upset my father.
