Catch and Release.
But, but...mostly peaceful.
Gee, unsecured bonds? That’ll really teach em’.
I saw a 46yo, a few later-30s, but mostly 20-somethings. In LibLand Durham, that surprises me. I’d expect some 60-70yo hippy-grannies out in the streets...some maybe even burning their bras and exposing their breastices. Heck, I perused the list looking for my elderly sister’s name...a Durham resident.
Wyoming?
“Protest”
Apparently the English language has morphed a bit, to where riots are called protests permanently
Well that's a start...
if our side were up to speed, we’d have names and mugshots.
Good to see every one of them was charged with a felony. No plea deals. We want them in the felony bank so they will be restricted in employment opportunities if they ever decide to get off the unemployment rolls
At least WTVD 11 news is covering this violence.
WRAL (Raleigh) news has ignored it except for a headline and photo but no story I could find.
WRAL has become so liberal, I cannot watch it or read it any more.
Why former?
Last month, the Other America Movement was arguing on North Carolina public radio that damaging property is not violent: How Violent Is Property Damage?

Durham North Carolina was built by blacks for blacks!
The Bull city has a rich history of African American commerce and bustling black communities. In the 1960s, during the height of the civil rights era, all that was shattered with the Urban renewal program This initiative included the construction of highway 147 right through the middle of Durhams most prominent black neighborhood: the Hayti. Coupled with red lining and other covert segregation tactics; Durhams black community was reduced to a shell of its former self. In light of todays political/racial climate, the need for reform is ever so evident! The poverty, displacement and discrimination that grips black people across the country has called for revolution! Unfortunately we can not change the world but we can change the socioeconomic status of the black and brown people here in our city! Time and time again, study after study have shown the DIRECT CORRELATION between poverty and crime. History has a habit of connecting BLACK AND BROWN PEOPLE WITH CRIME AND POVERTY and have treated them horrifically because of the poverty that systemic racism has inflicted upon the minority population.
DURHAM CAN CHANGE THAT! by giving black and brown peoples a fighting chance and a fair shake at restoring relations with traditional American society. THE DURHAM RENEWAL PROJECT DOES JUST THAT! With police reform and putting resources and infrastructure back into the community, the minority citizens here in Durham can take their seat at the table once again and enjoy the fruits the tree of human kind has to offer. WITH YOUR SIGNATURE AND SOLIDARITY, WE CAN RESTORE DURHAM! Bring back the Durham of old where ALL of its citizens lived in economic bliss.
HERE IS A LIST OF THE MAJOR ISSUES THIS FUNDING PROPOSAL AND LEGISLATION HOPES TO ADDRESS:
-MAJOR FUNDING AND RENOVATION OF LINCOLN HOSPITAL OF WHOM SERVICES THE BLACK AND BROWN PEOPLE IN THE NOW DILAPIDATED HYATI COMMUNITY. ALSO FUNDING TO PAY BLACK DOCTORS AND ADMINISTRATORS TO HELP THEIR COMMUNITY.
-LEGISLATION TO END RED-LINING FOR THE EVEN DISTRIBUTION OF FUNDING FOR DPS SCHOOLS. EVERY SCHOOL DESERVES THE RESOURCES NECESSARY TO TEACH OUR FUTURE CITIZENS.
-LGBTQ COMMUNITY CENTER OPERATED BY THE BLACK LGBTQ COMMUNITY LEADERS TO HELP COMBAT HOMELESSNESS, DESTITUTION AND MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES THAT AFFECT THE IMPOVERISHED LGBTQ CITIZENS.
-HOMETOWN HEROES INITIATIVE TO PUT BLACK OFFICERS BACK INTO THEIR OWN COMMUNITY TO POLICE AND SERVE THE PUBLIC. RECRUITING AND DISTRICTING PRACTICES THAT GIVE BLACK MEN AND WOMEN INCENTIVE TO POLICE THEIR OWN COMMUNITY.
-ALLOCATION OF FUNDS FOR BLACK SMALL BUSINESS SO THEY CAN GROW THEIR BUSINESSES AND EMPLOY BLACK AND BROWN PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY
-PUSH LEGISLATION TO RAISE THE MINIMUM WAGE TO $15 SO THAT CITY WORKERS AND THE BLACK WORKING CLASS CAN HAVE A LIVING WAGE.
-LEGISLATION TO FIGHT COMPLACENCY OF THE GOVERNMENT ASSISTED POPULATION. MANDATORY WORK FORCE TRAINING FOR AFRICAN AMERICAN AND LATIN X WOMEN WHO RECEIVE SNAP OR SECTION 8 VOUCHERS. ACCESS TO CHILD CARE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS AS LONG AS THEY ATTEND AND COMPLETE THE COMMUNITY WORK FORCE TRAINING PROGRAMS.
-A COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER OPERATED BY LEADERS OF THE BLACK AND BROWN COMMUNITY TO OFFER COMPUTER ACCESS, WORK FORCE TRAINING, EMOTIONAL\SPIRITUAL WELLNESS PROGRAMS, DROP IN CHILD CARE, AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING AND EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES FOR BLACK/BROWN YOUTH.
-A COMMUNITY GARDEN/VENUE SPACE FOR OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS AS WELL AS AGRICULTURAL TRAINING.
-BLACK OPERATED COMMUNITY GROCERY STORE SUPPLIED BY BLACK FARMERS UNION, BLACK BUTCHERS, BLACK AND BROWN BREWERS AND WINERIES, TO FIGHT FOOD INSECURITY AND HELP AGRICULTURAL COMMERCE AND EMPLOY BLACK CITIZENS.
All of these things are obtainable and beneficial for the economic empowerment of the black/brown community. By signing this petition, you are standing in solidarity with your fellow citizens in a push to achieve social and economic justice!
Thank you again for your consideration. WE SEE YOU, WE LOVE YOU!
