The Minneapolis city council wants to dismantle its police force. It may not get the chance, however, as the police officers themselves may accomplish it first. The city has received an overwhelming number of disability claims from law enforcement that might sideline a quarter of its police force.

The continued surge of Minneapolis police officers seeking disability benefits after the George Floyd unrest is heightening concerns of a police staffing shortage amid a wave of violent crime.

Jr., the lawyer handling the claims, said his office met with an additional 43 Minneapolis cops this week who have retained him. That’s in addition to the estimated 150 officers who Meuser said at a July 10 news conference had retained him. And it brings the total closer to 200 now, out of a sworn force of about 850.

Meuser said most of the officers starting the disability paperwork leave their jobs fairly quickly on a medical leave. The disability claims process can take up to six months.

He said his office has “dozens and dozens” of more appointments with officers scheduled for next week. “The curve has not flattened,” Meuser said. “We are signing up a staggering number of officers every day right now.”

Where I live, I only see a sheriff anywhere near my house every few years. And that is only because he’s my neighbor’s brother and he stops by to see him on rare occasion. We protect ourselves out here. We don’t really need those guys.

Big problem for the city. Just about every cop in that shit hole could make a good, valid case for having PTSD from all the crap they’ve taken and get off on a valid disability claim, leaving the city with a huge bill for disability claims and no cops.

Please explain to how putting actual lawyers/ judges who can’t read the Constitution they swore to protect is any better than appoininting an amateur?

Who would you prefer on the Supreme Court?: the average plumber or electrician or a lawyer with 50 years of experience who was educated in LaLa Land. Same with the police departments many of them are led by people whose only qualification is that they are black females. “LEO’s not performing what they are paid to do?” Enforcing the law could entail losing your job or winding up in jail. Why take a chance. The sooner we have Minnemogadishu the better. It will be an example for the rest of the country. Blacks are suffering the most as a result of efforts supposedly on their behalf.
