Agreed. FR in the beginning was a place of hope for conservatives. Especially conservatives of a libertarian leaning.
Way back in the beginning when FR was delving into the Clinton crimes we had no internet in rural areas. I had a co-worker who printed of the best of FR each evening and dropped them on my desk at work. I enjoyed those daily until we finally got internet in the boonies. Within a few days of internet at home I signed up on FR.
The Q threads are the closest to the beginning in nature, except all the "non-allowed topics" and suspensions. I am certainly open to trying other platforms tho we have a house rule to not participate in social media. Since we also don't use TV for news we seek online news sources. My #1 online news source is this Q thread.

That is so cool. I think that’s why I find this so sad. I remember posts about Vince Foster, Ron Brown. People actually investigated stuff, just like on these Q threads. i could be wrong, but I really started sensing a shift during the Obama birth certificate stuff. Once our side started chiming in with the name calling, like birther, it was pretty much no longer investigated.
