Their best bet would be to pray the dam doesn't break this season, keep the flood gates open during the dry season until the water level is same on both sides, then blow up the dam.
This isn't some Chinese plot to flood Wuhan to destroy evidence. They could do that with a couple of fires. This is a man made catastrophe that they don't have a clue how to deal with.
..” things I’d read was that this is a high sedimentation river, and that the dam builds up more sedimentation on the upstream side every year. This means it takes less water to raise the water level each year.”

This is true. I listened to a talk by an Army Corps of Engineers leader (don’t remember rank) who was involved with consulting on the dam (after construction). The original design apparently didn’t provide a way to remove the sediment from upstream through sluicing.

I agree 100%. I also think it is more likely than not that this dam is going to fail. They will be lucky if it doesn’t.

I have to ask who exactly will the athiest CCP pray to? Themselves? Just asking. I pray for the citizens downstream. Which makes me think: if you don’t believe in anything but the here and now and yourself or dear leader there would not be any where to look for guidance or comfort or understanding if their answers fail. Just panic, fear, paranoia. Maybe some will turn to God.
