Wall Street bankers: We’ll gladly pay higher taxes to get rid of ‘the existential threat’ that is Trump

Wall Street’s not this amorphous, unified blob, but the majority of people I talk to on Wall Street think it’s worth taking the hit to get Trump out of office. They view him as an existential threat.’ — That’s one Wall Street banker explaining to Vanity Fair in an interview how, from his perspective, his peers are gladly preparing to navigate markets under a Joe Biden presidency. “They’re saying, ‘We’d like to see Biden crush Trump,’” he continued, adding that he doesn’t want Democrats to take control of the Senate. In his world, legislative gridlock is a good thing and voting for Republicans to keep the Senate is basically “making sure nothing radical happens.” The Vanity Fair source gave a nod to Biden despite the fact that the deep-pockets of Wall Street would likely get hit by an overhaul of Trump’s 2018 tax plan because it would means higher taxes for the wealthy and corporations, as well as on capital gains.

Like BOA that is giving BLM a billion dollars over a four year period?

Wall Street will just pass the tax to consumers. As all businesses do. It’ll be factored into the new price of the goods/services.

I wonder if they’ll feel the same if Warren gets the VP nod. We’ll have enough bricks to rebuild the structures destroyed in the recent riots.

The left is talking about crushing capitalism and targeting corporations, Biden is their puppet, and Wall Street is afraid of Trump? The only explanation is that Wall Street knows that the left’s anti-corporate rhetoric is fake, and that the left is actually on the side of big corporations.

[I understand this being a possible factor in flipping the House in ‘18. But did President Trump win any of the states hit by SALT changes? If not, what difference will it make in November?]

It wasn’t just blue states. If you had a certain income and tax deduction profile (whether it was interest, property tax, medical or other deductions), your taxes went up. While this segment is smaller in red states, it existed then and continues to exist today. That’s why Biden’s rollback of the tax cuts and the restoration of the SALT and other deductions has real voter appeal.

In some ways, this may be unavoidable. Things may have to get worse before they get better. I’m looking for Biden to bring things to a level that the plutocrats finally cry uncle and begin to stop funding the Democrats.

A lot of people—even the wealthy (like Thomas Jefferson)— die in debt.

In some caees, such as if your life is cut short, it can’t be helped. But I don’t want to die in debt just to secure a lifestyle. I’d rather pass on with at least a few bucks to spare!

Wall Street think it’s worth taking the hit to get Trump out of office.
Ever notice how many time Wall Street has insider dealings with democrats,it should be called a money launder inc.
Trump puts the fear of being honest in them and they will fight tooth and nail to protect their interests.
Hillary winks

Trump’s tax cut, combined with the SALT changes, was politically disastrous. It caused a massive non-crisis-related increase in the budget deficit and tax increases for people with a bunch of tax deductions that were eliminated/reduced. It’s likely the key factor in the flip to the Democrats during 2018 mid-term election.

This!

You are 100% correct. A few of us around here tried to tell the lemmings the truth back in 2017-2018. They didn’t want to hear the truth.

Yes, but since China already OWNs Bidet, and his son; it will have to be a “hostile takeover” between the CCP and the DS. Or maybe they’ll MERGE. I would NOT be surprised.

Nor can you keep them from avowing the exact opposite of what they mean - they claim to want to pay higher taxes, while really wanting to pay less under the SALT deductions.

Exactly!

Both the rich and the poor HATE the middle-class, albeit for different reasons.

The middle-class is an anomaly created almost solely in America by freedom, liberty and justice for all.

Manhattan is 90% Democrat so this is not new. One has to be an utter idiot to consider Trump an existential threat to anything financial. He has helped produce more wealth in a three year period than any modern president.

It is the establishment types that are on the side of corporate strujctujres. The activists are out right socialists and even commies. The latter can’t see through the smoke. It is the same way in our party the GOP is run by a bunch of corporatist they do not want to pay taxes or answer to regulations. But, they are liberal or don’t care about everything else. Since we (myself included) have gone along with everything they do have found ourselves gaining nothing else from the political system. The only things we conservatives win at is when it benefits this scum of the country club. We lose everything else. It is time for these a holes to pay more taxes and a lot of taxes. This maybe the only gambit left. Putting these feckless country club traitors into a real bind and putting these elitist Democrats in the crossfire with their base may be the last option available to us.

You and I are on the same page. I would not of believed that I could post a post like this and not get boiled in oil on this web site(nor did I believe I ever would post something like this). Now we have a membership that seems to be in broad agreement. The powerful people get more and more powerful until they collapse and the the rest of us lose power until until we revolt. And that is what I think is happening!

‘And you disagree?’

They’re so pro invasion, pro China anti American.

Now they’re outwardly dictating tax policy.

This is not capitalism. It is corporate power greed. Period
