WARNING Food Slide:
I like watermelon, cantaloupe, black berries and peaches - an occasional cherry or grape. We can’t seem to grow watermelon or cantaloupes for last several years—something makes the vines fail before they mature. Have tried all sorts of remedies/researched etc.
Squirrels got all the peaches last year. Coons got the grapes, and the Cherry tree had teeny tiny fruit about the size of a grain of wheat. LOL
WARNING Food Slide:
If it weren’t for peaches, watermelon and lemons I’d not have eaten fruit as a child. I’m ok with other fruit now, not sure if I just didn’t want to try them as a kid or what. But I still hate the texture of apples and can’t stand strawberries. I’m kinda picky about many others.
I’ve had trouble growing melons on this land we have now. We have been here 11 years and I’ve liberally amended it each year. Much better but still not great. With melons I get either 1 or none per vine. I didn’t waste space with them this year. Unsure about what the virus would bring I packed every available space with things I knew would produce well.
Years ago on the garden thread we talked Meyer lemons. I never have time to get to that thread anymore but want to share that I now have 2 more producing trees that I raised from seed from my original. I’m calling that favor from God!
*redacted joke*
