They do not last long after harvest.
Refrigeration helps.
The Ojibwa dessicated them for winter use.
Modern folks tried preserving them but that never worked out.

And nine months from planting until fruit starts, usually in HI anyway.

Honeysuckle got it - head of some African country had his people send in two tests to the WHO maggots, one test had goat something and one was stuck in a pawpaw/papaya. Both were sick with covid... Too many accounts here with positive results from no swabs, saline dipped swabs, and people who didn’t show up for the test plus all the other insanity to accept any dribble from the CDC.
