This speaks to the concept of “man killer” and “man stopper” bullets. A .45 is seen as a man stopper. It knocks them on their butt, even though they may survive. Meanwhile, an adrenalin infused perp can take a bunch of 9mm bullets and keep coming. He’ll probably die, but kill you before he does.
.357 magnum puts them down, permanently. Its a .38 caliber bullet, but cuts a wound channel through the body. Very few survive a torso shot done with a .357 magnum.
