Doesn’t make much sense to me. Yes, businesses slowed down, but I’m having a hard time believing that much cash was being used by people, when a debit card or their phone is so much simpler. I use cash as much as I can, but I’m in the minority now.
My take, with tongue partially in cheek, is that the laundromat and car wash business has slowed down and the cartels are having a harder time laundering their money through these facilities than they used to.
Could also be step 1 in a fake crisis to drive us closer to digital-only transactions.

A friend said businesses aren’t turning in coins so banks have no coins to turn around and give out? Don’t know how that affects getting coins from the Fed? I’m not up on banking procedures enough to know how it works.

Well, our banks used to only accept coins on a specified day, and unless it’s changed, businesses have to count out the coins and put them in the paper rolls. Money is dirty-might have a CV-spit.
Also, What I have read is that the mints are not producing the coinage they used to because of covid-distancing and down time for extra workplace cleaning etc. This is also impacting the availability of gold and silver coins.
The mint had been churning out every increasing numbers of American Eagles each year and demand has really increased with all the trillions of dollars being printed for the rescue packages—thereby decreasing the value of the dollar and posing a risk of hyperinflation down the road.
People continue to move their cash into hard assets such as land, precious metals, ammo, food etc.

I know there have been 2-3 posts on these FreeQ threads in the past week about bank issues. Someone mentioned the virus contact on money. It's my understanding that the precious metal content is still high enough in change, to be microbial but that's actually not a concern for me.

Very possible - you can get everyone who was in the store during a time frame and quarantine the conservatives. You can't be too paranoid these days.
