No society can tolerate this for long. The arsonists will not burn down society; the society will awaken and banish the arsonists.

I hope this is true. But the riots and violence, and the stupidity of political leaders, have persisted longer than should be necessary for society to awaken. Perhaps the patient is comatose.

I wish I could feel more certain of this. As I look around and see/hear what many people are doing, and the lack of any sane response/reaction to it, it is hard to be optimistic.
