If you had to pick only ONE great band or musical group of the past 50 years who would it be?

Posted on 07/10/2020 8:18:42 PM PDT by Bigtigermike

I love all kinds of music and I know everyone’s taste of music is different but if forced to pick only one group since 1970 that was awesome, encompassed uniqueness and range and just fun music overall it would be Earth Wind & Fire. I just loved how they mixed R&B, Jazz, Soul, Pop, Latin and Disco and had lyrics to many of their songs that had meaning and message. Maurice White was a genius and his instrumental arrangements for the bands top hits was bar none. Great Car music

‘That’s the Way of the World’ ‘

Fantasy’

‘Reasons’

Getaway’

‘After the Love is Gone’

‘Serpentine Fire’

‘Shining Star’

‘Can’t hide Love’

Boogie Wonderland’

‘Gratitude’....etc

Eric Clapton and whoever he was playing with “Riding With The King” is a great album and B B King could play too.

Jimi was ahead of his time. Such a shame about his death

From the 80s, definitely XTC for me.

“There is no One Group or Performer that is the be-all and end-all.”

True. My favorite band changes every day.

I hoped for years they would reunite with Gabriel. I would have mortgaged my house to see that concert.

No, seriously, I would pick Yes. I could take Gates of Delirium from YesShows to an island and listen to it 4 trillion times and not be bored.

Rolling Stones the classic rock band, better than the Beatles

The Rolling Stones were the better rock band but the Beatles were far more talented musicians.

i reject the question

i don’t believe there is just one great rock band of the last 50 years, there is no one best band
