This is a good example of what Morgan Freeman says, racism only exists so long as people keep talking about it, bringing it up. When Dukes of Hazzard was first on the air, nobody thought "Oh this show is racist! Look at that car!" Instead it was just a symbol of the south and rebellion.

But thanks to the left, oh now it's racist, and anyone showing it is a racist and we must tear it down and tear down statues and Lynyrd Skynyrd must be racist because they played in front of it even though the guys in that band worshiped black musicians. Everything is racist EXCEPT FOR THE PEOPLE WHO KEEP RACISM ALIVE: NAMELY DEMOCRATS! What is a "racist"? A person who consistently focuses on race and its differences. Who does that more than the left? F THEM!

I recall one of the more popular country music groups in the early ‘90s was Confederate Railroad. Nobody seemed to make accusations about them being racist or their group’s name having racist connotations.

I am not an authority on the Dukes of Hazard show, since I only watched it a few times, and briefly then over the years it was on, so someone correct me if I am mistaken (yeah, like that's going to happen on FR. /sarc)

No, the Dukes of Hazard and their car wasn't racist. I always believed, and still do, that the comedy show promoted the mocking and making fun of the South and those who lived there. It generally caricatured the characters as good ol' boys (and girls), hillbillies, rednecks and bumbling idiots and stereotyped anyone from the south as worthy of being ridiculed.

It was just harmless comedy at the expense of Southerners and all in good fun.

They can have General Lee (the car), but they better keep their hands off those Daisy Dukes.

Heck, back then, when the Confederate flag was displayed, Dukes or no Dukes car, it was just a flag and a symbol.

I remember back then, 18-wheelers driving through the highways and streets of New York with huge Confederate flags on the truck grill -- no controversy, no outrage, none. It was just a flag.
