Goodbye Big Boy, Hello Dolly: Restaurant chain announces mascot change

I’ll go out on a limb and guess that “Boy” was offensive.

Last week, I had car-hop service at the Burbank Bob’s Big Boy (onetime hangout of The Beatles and daily diner David Lynch). I’m skeptical that that iconic restaurant will be going along with this name-change gimmick.

I didn’t realize there were still Big Boy restaurants around. They had a good hamburger.

90% of them that still exist are in Michigan. Spent a lot of time sparking Mrs. Buckeye there back in the day. Ahh, well, another warm memory shot to hell by Liberals.

It was Bob’s Big Boy in SoCal. In the midwest it was Shoney’s—same Big Boy though.

Actually it did in the long run. Sure New Coke itself bombed, but when they brought back regular Coke sales were much higher than they had been for years. It reversed a slide that had been ongoing for nearly a decade. Which is actually probably a big part of the reason for these temporary changes. Like IHOP to IHOB and this thing. Generates a lot of publicity, and renews energy for your “old” thing which you fully intend to bring back anyway.
