Democratic California Congressman Eric Swalwell said Saturday that he agrees there should likely be a nationwide mask mandate amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
In an interview on Cavuto LIVE with host Neil Cavuto, Swalwell noted case and hospitalization rates in his home state like much of the South are increasing at an alarming rate following reopening phases.
Well, you know, we are seeing about a 56 percent increase in hospitalizations in California. In my area, about 200 cases each day in Alameda County one of the largest counties in Northern California, he stated. And, its not that were increasing the testing. Of course, were increasing the testing The rate of people testing positive is going up, and thats whats most concerning.
Swalwell noted that while there is a marked increase in infections of Americas youth, the risk is much higher when you put young people with their parents or grandparents over a holiday weekend. [ ]
The most important [thing] is to follow the science. And, [in] the calls Ive been on with the governor [he says that] hes going to let the science dictate this, Swalwell explained. And, you saw a number of counties open up in California for in-room dining, for bars, for hair salons and nail salons, and then have had to roll it back. And so, we really are evolving, Neil.
The best way to combat the spread, according to Swalwell, is masking up.
And, if we wear a mask and then keep investing in the testing, tracing, and treatment, we can come out of this, he told Cavuto.

There are actual studies being done on how well masks stop transmission.
The studies show that masks actually *do* work to reduce transmission. Masks, social distancing, and eye protection all help to reduce transmission. More and more articles within the medical literature (access through www.pubmed.gov) are recommending face masks and social distancing.

Well, the “infallible” (to the left) WHO says don’t wear a mask, as of June 11th anyway. I have a screen grab, will see if I can still find the link.
Anyone proposing mandatory eye protection then?
“WHO says dont wear a mask, as of June 11th anyway. I have a screen grab, will see if I can still find the link.”
Please, please, please find the link and/or screen shot. I want to send it to my physical therapy office. (Thank you!)
Thought experiment.
You're sick. You go to a doctor to be checked.
Does he put a mask on himself or on you?
I have not seen that recommendation yet. That does not mean that no one is recommending it yet, because there is a LOT of literature and I only have the time/energy to read a few articles. Most of the recommendations are to wear face masks.
The CDC, along with many other organizations, has published “how-to” guides on making your own face mask. One nurse has posted a YouTube video on how to make an N95 equivalent mask (but I am not sure how available the materials are to average people). I have been making masks of several styles; some are definitely more comfortable than others.
I have seen a couple of people out and about using eye shields along with their masks. Any piece of semi-stiff see-through plastic would work for that.
OK found the link! Please read this from WHO on asymptomatic covid and mask wearing:
“11 June 2020 - Global research on COVID-19 continues to be conducted, including how the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is transmitted. Current evidence suggests that most transmission occurs from symptomatic people through close contact with others. Accordingly, most recommendations by WHO on personal protective measures (such as use of masks and physical distancing) are based on controlling transmission from symptomatic patients, including patients with mild symptoms who are not easy to identify early on.
Available evidence from contact tracing reported by countries suggests that asymptomatically infected individuals are much less likely to transmit the virus than those who develop symptoms. A subset of studies and data shared by some countries on detailed cluster investigations and contact tracing activities have reported that asymptomatically-infected individuals are much less likely to transmit the virus than those who develop symptoms...”
So wear a mask ONLY if you are symptomatic.
Save and distribute!
Also good:
Done! See above.
They used to think the virus transmits from asymptomatic people. Turns out, that is not the case, or rarely so. Yes, they are hiding that information. The WHO probably screwed up by telling the truth in that update. Watch it disappear.
wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection,
“the risk of transmission from less intense and less sustained encounters is below 5%”

“Done! See above.”
Thanks!! It’s a keeper.
Are not the most coveted N95 masks outfitted with an exhaust valve that vents exhalant out directly this bypassing the mask.
So much for the shaming sham excuses to wear a muzzle, its to protect others

"5. Are face masks effective in protecting against COVID-19? If you are infected, the use of surgical face masks may reduce the risk of you infecting other people. On the other hand there is no evidence that face masks will effectively prevent you from becoming infected with the virus. In fact, it is possible that the use of face masks may even increase the risk of infection due to a false sense of security and increased contact between hands, mouth and eyes while wearing them. The inappropriate use of masks also may increase the risk of infection.

I trust the EU CDC more than ours, frankly. Did you know we still haven't had a random sample study done covering the US to see how widespread covid is? You would think the Center for Disease Control would do that pretty quickly, and often, so they can, you know, control it. Like every friken week.
CDC is as bad as our FBI for "wokeness." Both have hidden agendas widespread.
N95 masks have no vent.
I understand that police departments are going to use Swalwell farts to disrupt riots in the city.
From WHO, June 5, 2020:
https://apps.who.int/iris/rest/bitstreams/1279750/retrieve
At present, there is no direct evidence (from studies on COVID-19 and in healthy people in the community) on the effectiveness of universal masking of healthy people in the community to prevent infection with respiratory viruses, including COVID-19.
And
At the present time, the widespread use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not yet supported by high quality or direct scientific evidence and there are potential benefits and harms to consider...
No they dont.

And this is with them worn correctly. Masks are made to be single use fit properly and worn correctly none of which apply to the
virtue signaling snot rags I see in the grocery store. To be useful the masks (fit tested N95 worn properly) must be combined with eye shields, hair covering, gown and gloves. Or would you like to seen patients with me on the covid unit with only a dirty bandana on? Oh thats right. you and the other karens never go near an actual patient
