Even the compliant Jews were murdered. They were just murdered last, after enduring all sorts of humiliations. It is better to maintain your integrity at the sacrifice of your life than to capitulate only to die in the end. No sacrifice, no honor.
It’s like when we watch a movie the the people wouldn’t listen and take action until it’s too late. I guess fiction and reality have joined together. It wasn’t so unbelievable after all.
