Yes, we need to test what he says. He is very specific in his prophesy, so it will be easy to know if he is a false prophet or not.
That said, the advice to have food, ammunition, and prayer is always advised. So we can do this while not following a false prophet, should he be one.

HMMMmmm
He is very specific in his prophesy, so it will be easy to know if he is a false prophet or not.
Verily, thus saith the Lord: It is wisdom in my servant David W. Patten,
that he settle up all his business as soon as he possibly can,
and make a disposition of his merchandise,
that he may perform a mission unto me next spring, in company with others,
even twelve including himself, to testify of my name and bear glad tidings unto the world.
(Doctrine & Covenants 114:1)
This prophecy was made on April 17, 1838. David W. Patten died in October of 1838 and thus never went on a mission the following spring.

Another HMMMmmm
is in order.
The online D&C 114 says it was April 11th; NOT the 17th.
Could any of our FR Mormons check their hardcopy D&C to see what it says there?

Pastor Dana didn’t say it was a prophecy; he said it was a dream. His previous dream from December came true, so he felt that he needed to share these other two dreams.
