A local taco restaurant closed both its locations in Atwater Village and Studio City Sunday, citing harassment from customers who refused to wear masks while ordering or picking up food.
In a message to customers, Hugos Tacos described the majority of their guests as respectful and kind as the restaurant operates with some restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the message said, staff have been harassed, called names, and had objects and liquids thrown at them as they enforce the mask requirement.
Our Taco Stands are exhausted by the constant conflicts over guests refusing to wear masks, the announcement said.
Signs about the facial covering rule are displayed on the premises.
When you ask some of the customers, they get upset, they get mad. They dont like to do that, Executive Chef Nabor Diaz told KTLA. At this point, its really important for us to put the safety of our crew first.

In Atwater Village and Studio City?
I refuse to eat or shop anyplace that requires a mask.
Afraid we’re losing that battle. Democrats and their Karen allies on the right are pushing hard to mask up. It’s only a matter of time before all businesses require masks for patrons.
Since Hugo’s is a couple of blocks from my house, I can let you know that it is a tiny two window classic hot dog / taco stand set up:
Very small: tiny with two small windows, one on the left to order, one on the right to pick up your order. You NEVER “WALK IN”....you walk up to the order window to order, then walk to the pick up window to pick up your completed order. Then you may lean on a ledge to eat , take it home or sit on a bus bench.
Having worked at Dodger Stadium in the summers selling hot dogs while I was growing up, I can safely say, people ordering thru the TINY window are close and one might be concerned at droplets aimed their way while ordering.
Why not wear your mask while face to face with another person who may have a higher level of concern? Then remove your mask to eat? it’s really easy.
I, personally have been going thru this thing with a low level of concern. yet I do nit go out as frequently. I have friends and aquaintances who have gotten this flu and know of a small number who have died.
As a result, I do wear my mask, do my errands and come home.
Where ethnic backgrounds are released with test results, “LatinX” is 10 times as likely as a Black person to test positive. And 3 times as likely as a ‘White’ person.
I thought you were at Minards (not Menards)
My favorite restaurant in the world, Clarksburg, W.Va.

Probably because they're sick and tired of being coughed and sneezed on.
Yes. I have seen a number of blue chin guards and neck warmers too.
customers who refused to wear masks while ordering or picking up food. Kinda right there in the excerpt.
Two words, Edible Masks...
Do they still make Edible Panties?
Asking for a friend.
Otherwise known as “CANDY PANTS”.
Over the weekend, the family across the street from me had a kids party.
At least half dozen families with kids.
Hispanic.
Water slide etc.
I’m 100 miles from Minneapolis.
Only maskers up here are people from the cities.
I was on a worksite last week in Queens/NYC — a city government location. The morning greetings and introductions with the other contractors was mask free, with handshaking. We all had masks hanging on our necks, but nobody was using them. There was a bottle of hand sanitizer on offer on the table, but nobody was obsessing with it. There were city employees in the mix.
“Youre not required to eat with the mask on...”
Gee, thanks for that info, very useful, you arrogant ass.
It is YOU who is the ARROGANT ASS. I was responding to exactly that terminology issue in post 4.
They don't. They're doing it to protect their employees.
Only fools think the government can make things get back to normal - it will only happen when the population feels comfortable and anti-maskers are only prolonging that.
Oh well, at least they can feel secure in their toughness.
Thank you for being the voice of sanity.
Right in the article, it states:
“staff have been harassed, called names, and had objects and liquids thrown at them”
I bought some buff style stretch neck tubes. I wear them like a dickee (remember them?) and pull them up when Im near enough to annoy others. They are comfortable, breathable, and cheap. I am not under the illusion that they do anything. It just makes others feel better. Remember, every old lady is convinced she will die if anyone breaths near her. They are literally in terror and they need to shop for food too.
My favorite one has a silk screened bag of flamin hot Cheetos on it. They double as a face and neck covering while mowing or fishing near swarms of gnats.
