“Well my German Granny never said that word in my entire life time, and would not allow rude words ever. Grandpa was half German and half S.Irish— he once said D_ _ _it and was awfully embarrassed, but Granny did not let him off the hook either. They had a small dairy farm.”

Good for your granny. She must have been Missouri Synod Lutheran. LOL

No. One of the strictest Baptists ever. Most Baptist churches were not up to her standards, so they listened to one that met their standards on the radio for years.

Finally they found one they approved of in Sarcoxie Mo. Grandpa eventually became a Deacon in that Church.

Granny listened to preachers on the radio all day long and we read the bible at night. Paul Harvey was the exception-she listened to him. When we visited her sister, I got to hear the Lone Ranger, play checkers, and read a Donald Duck comic. I spent all summer on the farm until I was 12. Sack swing, stick horses, tree houses—loads of fun.

Most games of the era she considered devils work so checkers and Lincoln logs was about it.
