DOA to Senate and DOA POTUS VETO.
What purpose did it serve for the House to pass DC statehood?
And while I am on Article 4 of the Constitution lets look at Section 4 closely. "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence
I think they’ve been chirping about DC statehood for a long time. Like you said, DOA at the senate.
Agree with ichabod1 that DC has been clamoring for statehood as far back as I can remember. I’ve always taken it to be just another “victimhood issue” where they can whine that they are oppressed. No one is forcing anyone to live in DC so IMO it’s their choice to live in a non-state.
Re A4 Section 4, what do you see as the major significance? POTUS’ ability to protect the states against invasion? Are we talking Antifa? Something else? Do you think he is likely to use it? Or do you think he is going to deliberately not use it in order to demonstrate that he is not a dictator? Or to show the failings of various governors? My personal opinion is that he would use executive power to protect innocent citizens if things got way out of hand. I think he is using restraint right now because *most* of the people hurt in rioting are there by their own choice. JMO.
