Appears the photo NASCAR released is not the same knot as is shown in the videos taken earlier.
Did they [NASCAR] just post a FAKE photo?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've been analyzing all the available photos of the "noose" -- and something is fake!
- The "Official NASCAR Noose" is of a properly-tied "'7 wraps' Hangman's Knot" -- but...
- ...it appears somewhat sharper & closer than its surroundings -- yet the background is in focus. (PS "PASTE job?)
- ...the rope is nice new and clean -- no "dirt" from being pulled repeatedly by the grimy hands of racing mechanics.
- ...the knot is totally unlike the simpler knots shown in three other photos.
- ...and, most damning, the adjacent doorpost is a different color from the distinctive red [&white & blue] paint scheme shown in other photos. (I "super-saturated" the color in the photo, and there's not a trace of red -- whereas other red objects look "right". Also, the doorframes across the drive are the same black/gray color scheme...)
- ... An actual "Hangman's Noose knot" would be a lousy choice for a door pull: when pulled hard enough to pull an overhead door down against the force of the heavy "boost-assist" springs -- The loop would tighten around your hand -- and (by design) be difficult to loosen!
- ...the loops on simple "Overhand-on-a-bight" or "Figure-Eight-on-a-bight" knots -- as shown in the other three photos -- have a fixed-size loop, and would not "trap" your hand, yet could be "hooked" and pulled down if out of reach.
(Possibly a different location and rope/knot...)
BOTTOM LINE: It appears that someone(s) is/are lying to us!
(IMHO, of course...)
