First grade.
First morning.
I stood, covered my heart with my right hand and said,
“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,
And to the Republic for which it stands,
one Nation under God,
indivisible,
with Liberty and Justice for all.”
I took my “pledge” when I was 5 years old.
Been holding it ever since.
Thanks for that!
We used to say the pledge in school every day. At the time, most of us probably never gave it much thought. I sure do now!

In the office one morning at my children’s JR High school, a parent responded after the Pledge of Allegiance, “I don’t know why they say the pledge every day, after all WE ARE NOT ALL REPUBLICANS”..........
Now you know why and who are in the streets.
