Be careful if you’re a Verizon subscriber. They’re selling the Galaxy S20 5G, but it comes without the MicroSD slot. Don’t ask me why they’re doing this. The standard Galaxy S20 5G has the slot.
Even if you buy directly from the Samsung site, and you get it configured for Verizon, it won’t have the slot
The slot can hold up to a one terabyte card for additional memory, I think.
The good news..if you trade in a Galaxy S8 or above, you get $250 credit.
Yes.
What is the name of that app?
Thanks
“Really regretting T-Mobile, though....”
Went into a T Mobile store just prior to the Covid shutdown and inquired about changing to their service. They ran a credit check and afterwards told them I would consider changing. Then Covid struck and the store was closed. A month or so later I get a bill from T Mobile stating I was overdue on my payment. Called customer service about it and was told I would have to go back to the store to get it taken care of. I told them it would be rather difficult since the store was closed. After a couple more calls to customer service the problem was resolved. Not sure I’ll ever switch to them. How can you be past due when you have never purchased their product or service?
Since you bought the unlocked version thru Samsung, did the phone come with the microSD slot? Which carrier are you using?
I hear you, man. I have had a Samsung Galaxy S4 since I don’t remember. I have disabled, deleted, or otherwise neutered almost every app that I can. I now have a basic phone with text and a camera. It goes 8-10 days between recharges and is solid. It will be a sad day when it dies as I have no idea what to replace it with because as sure as the democrats hate the USA, the new phone will be crap.
Specialty phones are going to be expensive phones. I’d probably keep two phones, one that I can use the internet and the other that I make calls off of, like a Nokia 3210.
Yeah, Microsoft isn’t supporting it any longer. However, it was a great phone its time. Top of the line. However, on my phone, Edge no longer works on it and I had to download a substitute internet browser.
I use a LG G8 as my main phone and it’s pretty decent.
Go into settings. Lots of options. There are lots of controls, maybe too many. I changed several of them and that seems to have fixed the problems. One option is on the volume of the other party you are talking to.
I’ll let you know how it is working in a few days.
I have three Samsungs in my house. The one thing I hate is Bixby. It turns on when you don’t want it. It took over my daughter’s microphone, so she couldn’t make phone calls. It was a nightmare to get it back. (Many webpages on this problem). I’d love to get a Sony Experia for the best camera.
OK, I'm done shilling now.
That is like choosing between Mao and Stalin.
If you want to ROOT it, I recommend you do NOT get the S20.
I have the S10, and the Snapdragon chip (USA version) will not allow you to root.
I don’t know anything about the other phone.
I wouldn’t want an Apple product if it was given to me...
A bit steep on the price (understatement) for the options (RAM/speed/sound/etc.) it has...
:^\
Galaxy S8 here. I disliked Bixby from the very beginning and found a way to disable it. I can’t even swipe to the page now and the left side button doesn’t bring it up. I don’t remember exactly how I did it.
I was also able to disable the “swipe up” function that brings up a “frequently used” page of icons from below the main home page.
Sounds like what a T-Mobile dealer did to my son last year. He just went in the store to see what kind of deals they were offering as he wanted to leave ATT. Supposedly, they only ran a credit check, and the guy quoted him a few phones. Told the guy he’s still considering options and told him he’d be back in a few weeks if he decided to go with T-mobile. 2 days later, a brand new iPhone shows up at his door. Took him a month to get it straightened out. He went with Spectrum instead.
U get what u pay for. Google’s Android OS tracks you, sells your meta data, and tailors ads just for you. That’s how they make their money.
If you desire privacy go Apple. Apple goes not track you nor sell your data. They do not make ads for u. They make their money at the point of sale.
Don’t buy into the latest and greatest, get what does the job u require. Why pay extra to be ‘stylish’?
No matter what u buy, it will be technically superseded in a year or two.
Then there is 5-G. Do you want that now or are you willing to wait a year or two until their is a competitive market?
I am using T-Mobile without a glitch, except when somebody cut the cable last week. Anyway, I inserted my SIM card and SD card, turned the phone on and it set up instantly. Used the onboard software to transfer all of my data. All updates are coming right from the manufacturer, and the best part, no T-Mobile bloatware! YMMV.
