This Bolton saga is so over the top that it makes me suspicious that there’s more to it than meets the eye. It reminds me of the Trump/Sessions feud. Whatever anyone thinks of Bolton, he’s never engaged in this kind of unprofessional gossipy behavior. POTUS’s dismissal of Bolton was blunt but not nasty in any way. He even thanked Bolton for his service. The escalation of rhetoric started with Bolton and yet, if memory serves me, most if not all Bolton’s attacks have been in writing, or via leaks from third parties. I don’t believe I’ve seen him trashing POTUS in person via interviews. It all seems quite staged to me.
Somebody got to Bolton, and made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.
