Its just the flu, bro.
Less than 400 dead from CV yesterday, according to worldometer. A lot of interesting things are being said about immunity and partial immunity and benefits of trace exposures to the virus - all of these things seem to cause a virus to fizzle out. Experts had said that a much higher percentage of the population would need to get the virus to get herd immunity. It seems the math is a bit too simplistic in that herd immunity formula (h = 1-1/r0). Bottom line is that God has blessed humanity with a robust immune system. The next time someone cries wolf about a virus we must remember this and know that we can handle anything - without a lockdown.
The money quote so you dont have to go looking
Some of the indicators look a bit worrisome. As countries relax social distancing mandates, case growth may be holding steady or even increasing. This is a notable difference from the steady decrease we have seen in case growth following the implementation of social distancing guidelines.
I have already determined that the number of cases now is at 1% of where cases would have been without the quarantines. But that is not the full picture. What I need to do now is analyze current case growth so that I can see if it is, indeed, starting to increase as social distancing guidelines are relaxed.
She is so brilliant I dont know why trump hasnt put her in charge of the pandemic. Yet people eat this garbage up
Looks like he was cruisin for a bruisin
The stupidity is strong with that one
I have a magic calculator too.
“Looks like he was cruisin for a bruisin”
He was. Don’t be calling me a racist. I care about political leanings, and how those leanings cause people to live their lives. Our family reunions are a mix of Caucasion, Black, Japanese, Puerto Rican — and Dad’s great-great was Seneca Indian. So we have it all. (And all of them, except the snowflake generation, are conservative.)
Is that picture supposed to be you or us?
Did anyone read the new WHO report? Some good stuff in it:
“At present, there is no direct evidence (from studies on COVID-19 and in healthy people in the community) on the effectiveness of universal masking of healthy people in the community to prevent infection with respiratory viruses, including COVID-19.”
And
“At the present time, the widespread use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not yet supported by high quality or direct scientific evidence and there are potential benefits and harms to consider...”
Greetings, Flu-Peeps.
late to the show, finished up the wonderful night shifts this morning, and slept a spell.
I’ll read on before I comment further, other than to say “In AFTER Kojak”.
The Praying Mantises took care of the murder hornets. They are the Green Berets of insects.
The new WHO report also says this is NOT spread by asymptomatic individuals
They just say what their Chinese Masters tell them to say.
Yep, I saw that, too.
LOL - another good one.
Lojack is cheap entertainment.
Plus, he provides an endless setup for Halfast’s creative counter-posts. :)
Masks, the final frontier.
Very interesting developments revolving around masks at work (or maybe we’re just a defiant bunch). Company policy says masks shall be worn in common areas. There are even signs on the restroom doors explaining such. They are not required, however, in our operations control rooms, nor at personal desks where social distancing can be ensured.
Now, since last Monday, when the rioting was a major concern, the company moved the operations personnel from their downtown operations center to their backup center, which is in our building. They also pushed the mask wearing in common areas rule.
Fast forward to night shifts this past weekend - almost NOBODY wore their masks in the common areas. I wore mine when entering the building the first 2 days, but gave up on it after that. Its a useless accessory, and really messes with my breathing when walking up the stairs to the entrance of the building. Plus, my glasses kept fogging up, regardless of how high I put the top of the mask on my nose.
Still haven’t gotten a haircut either, due to the mask rule. Trying to decide if I should go with the Kojak look or a mullet. Can a balding semi-geezer safely wear a mullet?
It looks like defunding the police is the new meme.
Since they seem to have returned to DC, it would seem that something legislative will be their next attack on the American people. You might be right about defunding the cops. Because we can’t destroy a country as long as there are some standing in an organized fashion to stop it. The Police fit that description.
Based on their life cycle, murder hornets will be at peak aggressiveness in the latter weeks of summer. Entomologists in the Pacific Northwest are looking for their nests. They hope to eradicate them before they establish a permanent presence in North America.
