If we can’t have rational discourse then the country is already lost. Shake the etch-a-sketch and try again.
Have you tried to talk rationally to a leftist/liberal/progressive lately, about anything? They don’t have the capacity for rational thought. Decades of liberal indoctrination have destroyed their ability to think logically. They can only emote, and their emotions drive them in everything they do.
No matter the subject, if you even gently suggest any deviation from their programming they will fly into an unhinged rage. They cannot even conceive of the existence of opinions that differ from theirs. That type of person, and there are now millions of them, is not someone with whom you can reach reasoned solutions to issues.
Just as with cult members, these people are lost souls, incapable of being reached, unless and until they are shocked back to reality. That is the only slim sliver of hope that remains, that if things get bad enough and the consequences hit home for leftists personally, that at least some of them will start to wake up. I think this is starting to happen within the larger black community, judging by the poll released a couple of days ago showing 40% African American support for Trump. If true, that is a political earthquake. In fact, I have more hope for black liberals turning than for white liberals, because black liberals have to live every day, in a graphic way, with the consequences of liberalism, and I think many have had enough.
