A group of NFL players from across the league have gathered for a 70-second video demanding that the NFL deliver a clear message about racial injustice in the wake of the death of George Floyd.
The video starts with Saints receiver Michael Thomas saying, “It’s been 10 days since George Floyd was brutally murdered.”
Then comes DeAndre Hopkins to ask, “What will it take?”
“For one of us to be murdered by police brutality?” Browns receiver Jarvis Landry adds.
“What if I was George Floyd?” Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson asks.
“If I was George Floyd,” Giants running back Saquon Barkley also asks.
“What if I was George Floyd?” Browns receiver Odell Beckham Jr. joined in.
From there, quick cuts of players saying the names of those who died in confrontations with police are reeled off by players including, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, and Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliot.
The video ends with this:
We will not be silenced. We assert our right to peacefully protest. It shouldn’t take this long to admit.
So on behalf of the National Football League, this is what we the players would like to hear you state: We, the National Football League, condemn racism and the systemic oppression of black people. We, the National Football League, admit wrong in silencing our players from peacefully protesting. We, the National Football League, believe black lives matter.
The NFL has sunk at least $20 million into social justice causes since 2017, the year after Colin Kaepernick first began to protest against the United States during the playing of the national anthem.
The league has also contracted with activist rapper Jay-Z to make sure its music and other entertainment programing conforms to the social justice agenda.

The nfl just died today. Oppression? What the F?
Literally everyone was appalled by the Floyd death and are for improvement of police and black relations. This is an abomination.
The NFL lost around 18% of its TV audience over a couple of years, and then gained most of it back after the protests were downplayed. Sounds like the players are determined to restart the audience loss and make it ever greater than last time.
On top of that, the lockdown has made millions realize they can live without sports.
And considering I was one of the biggest posters here on all things sports, that’s big. I don’t miss it a bit. Even college football doesn’t do much for me now.
These oppressed millionaires have a far better chance of being killed by one of their black brothers than any cop. How many of them live in the ‘hood with the oppressed?

Language is an interesting thing. I feel quite confident they meant to say “SYSTEMIC oppression,” but were too ignorant to know the difference.
NFL players, including Drew Brees, have lost me. I’m done. No más.
“I will punish myself by never ever watching a pro football game again.”
The last NFL game I watched was when the refs robbed the Saints by not calling a blatantly obvious PI foul against the Rams in the playoffs a couple years ago.
I didn't pop any popcorn before I clicked. Oh well.
Yeah, I cut my NFL watching down greatly during the first couple of years of the flag protests, then came back to watch about half as much as in the past when that died down. But if they start it again, I expect I'll just turn off for good.
And as over the top as the protests and riots have become this time, I won't be surprised if the flag protests show up more and more at the college level, and start turning off more and more college football fans.
These players make more money than God for crying out loud AND they have the audacity to scream that black people cant get ahead in life GIVE ME A DAMN BREAK!! I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS BS!!

Believe it or not, in 2015 the NFL under Goodell asked Robert Mueller, the senile, corrupt old swamp-roach to “investigate” NFL violence. He delivered the expected white wash and the matter faded.
In August 2016, a few weeks after the Seth Rich murder, The Washington DC police chief Cathy Lanier was hired by the NFL to be their new security chief at some gigantic salary increase reported to be 10x her DC salary. Muriel Bowser was the mayor at the time. Now both the NFL and Bowswer are pulling out all the stops to incite and encourage mayhem on the streets of the US. I will never attend another NFL game and I will avoid its sponsors like the plague that they truly are.
And these NFL players can’t get their heads out of their rear ends long enough to realize how stupid it is to constantly offend a good chunk of the ticket buyers and TV viewers who support their lavish salaries and lifestyles. If they start protesting at games again, I hope they learn a tough and very expensive lesson.
Can't wait until the national felons league addresses the spouse, girlfriend, etc abuse.
Oh and let's ask the nfl about Ray Lewis.
Oh and let's ask why there aren't more white players in the league....or Asians...or Hispanics...or women. I mean, if the nfl is going to go woke, do it right.

Who in their right mind would pay anything to support the NFL, the games, the gear, etc.
