Nirvana: Krist Novoselic praises Trump’s ‘strong and direct’ protest speech

Former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic has praised Donald Trump for the “law and order” speech he gave on 1 June in response to protests sparked by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody.

Speaking in the White House rose garden, Trump said he was dispatching “thousands and thousands of heavily armed soldiers, military personnel, and law enforcement officers to stop the rioting, looting, vandalism, assaults, and the wanton destruction of property”.

In a post on Facebook, Novoselic wrote: “Wow!!! I know many of you can’t stand......

I should have googled first. It was Jason Everman who it says was in SF and played guitar with Nirvana as well as Soungarden and another band whose name would get me banned.

That "Nevermind" album by Nirvana is still one of my favorites of all time. One of the few albums you can listen all the way through without skipping any tracks.

The album single-handedly ended the Hair Metal era. Whether or not that was a good thing is a matter of personal opinion.

That is when rap became mainstream and white kids thought they were cool by joining that movement. At least in the 80s, rock and metal was party music. It may not have been for everyone but to listen to Van Halen on a beach with pretty women in view was a stepping stone into young adulthood. Happier, maybe not fully innocent but better times.

Novoselic grew up in Communist Yugoslavia IIRC.
