Thank you, greeneyes! That looks to be about 4 miles east of the campus where we will be apartment hunting. Not far enough from this mama bear’s perspective. I am now understanding my mother’s concerns when I left rural SW Virginia, and moved to Miami, Florida. But I was 27 and married, not 21 and single. I was also the oldest, whereas our daughter is the youngest.
I for sure would advise her to get further outside the city limits. Hopefully she will have her own car. The metro and bi-state buss was ok in the daytime, but iffy at night.
In fact, I would not be any where on or around campus & downtown, unless I was with a large group of people after dark. I attended night school @ UMSL (Normandy-Florissant Area), but I was in a car pool and not alone.
I worked at what is now Bank of America Plaza, and we had security guard escorts at night if we requested it. Which I sometimes had to do. That is at the corner of Market and 8th.
