How long, in your recent experience, does it take for toxicology tests to come in?

If he went to the ground on his own accord why the maneuver to restrain him, especially considering he was already cuffed? Makes no sense whatsoever.

Couple that with the restraint no only held after there was a known difficulty of breathing, but after he was unconscious and had no pulse?!

This is textbook excessive force. When a man is detained his safety is the responsibility of the officers on scene.

Due to their negligence and excessive use of force, the man in their custody died.

These officers are going down, and rightfully so.

I expect it will also cause another “Ferguson Effect” pullback of police and higher crimes rates.

I also expect a further increase in CCW activity.
Might be a good time to buy stock in companies that offer CCW insurance too.

Re: “No findings support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation.”

The problem with the case against Chauvin is that many Black males are trained from birth to be lawsuit savvy.

Every day, dozens of Black males tell the Police they “can't breath” or have “claustrophobia” or they intentionally collapse or fall down.

Several statements in the complaint are deliberate attempts to create pre-judgement against the officers.

Specifically - the video “appears” to show George Floyd stopped breathing - Really? I can't see people breathing in a high def video filmed on a professionally lighted sound stage.

Specifically - one officer could not find a wrist pulse - millions of completely healthy people have a barely perceptible or no wrist pulse.

Bottom Line...

Four cops wearing body cams, and onlookers with cell phone cameras, but one of the cops allegedly commits a “dangerous act evincing a depraved mind?”

Sorry - I do not see that on the news videos.

Did Officer Chauvin violate established restraint procedures?

Yes, obviously.

Should Officer Chauvin be fired?

Yes, obviously.

Did Officer Chauvin commit murder.

No, obviously.

In a case like this which is priority number one for the laboratory, I can’t believe it would take less than 24 hours. I think they already know what drugs were in his system. My gut says they are slow walking this autopsy as it is favorable to the police officers. The fact that the attorneys for the family are seeking an independent autopsy tells me that they have been tipped off as to the results, which they do not like. Stay tuned.

It wasn't on his throat.

On the side of his neck.

Please read the ME's summary.

I don't know why they didn't do cpr.

Maybe he still had a pulse.

Maybe their union contract forbids it.

I don't know.

Thanks for the info. It may be that Benjamin Crump has already been in contact with the family and they’re being told not to trust the findings of the powers that be in Minneapolis. We’ll see for sure.

CHAUVIN Derek, COMPLAINT

STATEMENT OF PROBABLE CAUSE (excerpt)

The defendant pulled Mr. Floyd out of the passenger side of the squad car at 8:19:38 p.m. and Mr. Floyd went to the ground face down and still handcuffed. Kueng held Mr. Floyd’s back and Lane held his legs. The defendant placed his left knee in the area of Mr. Floyd’s head and neck. Mr. Floyd said, “I can’t breathe” multiple times and repeatedly said, “Mama” and “please,” as well. The defendant and the other two officers stayed in their positions.

The officers said, “You are talking fine” to Mr. Floyd as he continued to move back and forth. Lane asked, “should we roll him on his side?” and the defendant said, “No, staying put where we got him.” Officer Lane said, “I am worried about excited delirium or whatever.” The defendant said, “That’s why we have him on his stomach.” None of the three officers moved from their positions.

BWC video shows Mr. Floyd continue to move and breathe. At 8:24:24, Mr. Floyd stopped moving. At 8:25:31 the video appears to show Mr. Floyd ceasing to breathe or speak. Lane said, “want to roll him on his side.” Kueng checked Mr. Floyd’s right wrist for a pulse and said, “I couldn’t find one.” None of the officers moved from their positions.

At 8:27:24, the defendant removed his knee from Mr. Floyd’s neck. An ambulance and emergency medical personnel arrived, the officers placed Mr. Floyd on a gurney, and the ambulance left the scene. Mr. Floyd was pronounced dead at Hennepin County Medical Center.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner (ME) conducted Mr. Floyd’s autopsy on May 26, 2020. The full report of the ME is pending but the ME has made the following preliminary findings. The autopsy revealed no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation. Mr. Floyd had underlying health conditions including coronary artery disease and hypertensive heart disease. The combined effects of Mr. Floyd being restrained by the police, his underlying health conditions and any potential intoxicants in his system likely contributed to his death.

The defendant had his knee on Mr. Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds in total. Two minutes and 53 seconds of this was after Mr. Floyd was non-responsive. Police are trained that this type of restraint with a subject in a prone position is inherently dangerous.
