It’s true - my wife is from Japan and when we first got married she wanted us both to go to the doctor if either of us had so much as a sniffle.
They get basic stuff like aspirin and such through their docs. Go at the drop of a hat. Over the counter too, but a lot of them are very doctor doctor.
She’s gotten better after years, but still very much a hypochondriac. It didn’t help she went through a bout of breast cancer 15 years ago. She at least doesn’t feel the need to go every time she has a sore muscle or headache now.
Covid has been one mass appeasement of her fears for me and my daughter.
I remember when the Asians started wearing the masks, early part of the century, when SARS-1 appeared. The Hong Kong flu I think it was called. Spreading even in the heat of Hong Kong due to massive use of air conditioning, to which I can relate living here in Houston. They looked so weird wearing masks, but they were probably forced to way back then. Its our turn now, apparently.
So sorry Reed.

I have been virtual touring the world and I do love how Japan looks so clean and organized. My husband and I are absolute packrats and I dearly love Japan’s practice of minimalism.
