It may be that, at the outset, the “Crossfire” code was never taken from the Rolling Stones but from another Crossfire “event”.

I thought op names weren’t supposed to mean anything but the op, so you take two randomly generated words and stick them together. Seems they got away from that policy though. First “inspirational” op name I remember was Desert Shield.
