I received a nonpartisan ballot. The ballot only included judges. I was not given the option to vote for anything else and today is the deadline to vote in Oregon's presidential primary.
Apparently this involves some deal with DMV voter registration, where Republicans were auto switched to nonpartisan, and sent ballots with only judges and certain measures to vote for.
Are there any remedies for people in Oregon like myself who were denied the ability to vote as a result of this?
Thank you.
“Apparently this involves some deal with DMV voter registration, where Republicans were auto switched to nonpartisan”
Apparently?
Is there any evidence for this?
Class-action lawsuit (talk millions in damages), and bluff them into re-staging the entire primary again, at their cost.
After that, ask the Feds to stage a review over the state...discussing the idea that they can’t run primaries or elections. Silly to suggest that, but it’s like the whole process was taken over by 9-year-old kids.
But I would suggest that the ‘bosses’ of your state GOP played along and allowed this to happen. If you ask questions...they probably won’t answer them.
Torches and pitch forks are a good remedy.
Take responsibility for your voter registration and see that its done the way you want it done? If re-registration is all it takes, the forms are available at DMV. This is an old problem.
I suspect you are registered I or Non, not sure what they call it, if you do not register as an R, you will not get an R primary ballet. You will never be able to choose who runs against the incumbent D in your district.
I’m in Kentucky. Here, if you register independent you will not be able to vote in any party’s primary. If you register republican, you can only vote in the republican primary. Same with Democrat.
I used to live inWashington state. There you don’t have to give party afilliation. You can vote in any primary you want, but only one. You can vote in your own party’s primary or as a spoiler for the other party, but not both.
Unless Oregon allows open primaries, then you as an Independent are not allowed to vote in any parties primary selection. You have to wait until the general election, in November to select who you want to vote for.
I wrongly assumed another ballot would be sent for the presidential primary (not just for judges) - but today is the deadline. I’ll check anyway though.
Im sorry that you folks in Oregon deserve whatever you get feeling the way you do
Were in the same damn boat here in California
Get out to every news outfit in Oregon you can, and keep on them - you and all the others this happened to. Don’t be quiet, don’t let up, until news in Oregon is reporting you. From what I can tell so far, this is major in Oregon today. You are not alone.

Sue.
Seems like its been a couple of years since this problem was discovered. I dont know if your county would give you a provisional partisan ballot, today, or not. Hassle....
I read the following last night posted at FR:
My brother lives in Oregon, and I had sent this to him so was easy for me to find, and post here. Hope this helps.
Worth looking into, thanks!
That’s the one I saw, discussing DMV. Thanks.
At some point, if he hasn't already, AG Barr will need to address the utter weaponization of the DOJ Civil Rights Division.
Nope
The voting will take place
And “This was a mistake. Sorryy....not” /s
Tell them you are a dead illegal alien and they will let you vote.
