If Apple did allow the phones to be opened it’s possible would ever trust them again with their business. If they made an exception in this case, Apple probably would not want that to be known.

Apple - Its bogus, to give people false sense of security. They already know anyway. Smoke and mirrors. Just cant neccessarily get a warrant

I listened to what Barr said about it. Apple allows repressive regimes to do whatever they want to Apple phones - iow, Apple rigs the phones so they can be surveilled etc in China, Russia and someplace else.

So Apple has no problem with that, but give info to the FBI about jihadis in the US? No can do....
