Almost all, if not all, Federal workers are receiving FULL pay and benefits while on lockdown at home while doing no work at all. It is a fact that IRS workers are receiving full pay while most of them are at home not working at all. The media has produced almost no stories (can't find any in a search) on this subject for some reason or another.
I can’t speak for other agencies, but I work for the DOC and we are all at home working. Same work requirements as in the office, no change at all.
It probably depends on whether the agency had a telework program in place beforehand. I can’t believe a paper processing bureaucracy like the IRS couldn’t do telework.

My husband and his coworkers certainly are working. I know how many hours per day he is closed off in his office here. I hear him on the phone with others who are available to discuss issues that arise without having to be tracked down or called back. I hear him teleconferencing. I see exactly how much time he takes for lunch.
You may know of a few people. You don’t begin to know it all.
Not just federal workers! School employees including cafeteria and bus drivers and others are being paid for sitting on their backside. Commonality? They are all paid with tax dollars!

I can double down on that: I know a deaf person who got an IRS job.
To accommodate her deafness, it requires another employee, so I assume both of them are still getting paid. Yes, your tax dollars “at work.”

Just the naked part; at least for federal government workers.
Gov workers never feel the pain of any economic calamity. Gov shutdown? No problem, sent home, miss a paycheck, go back to work when done, receive all back pay like nothing happened and get a free vacation.
You can bet it's a lot of fed workers pushing for a longer lockdown so they can get an even longer free vacation.
They have zero skin in the game but get all the rewards for doing nothing. It's not right and something should be done to change that like the only pay they would get is regular unemployment pay; nothing more.
SO DON'T GO LUMPING ME IN WITH THOSE YOU ACCUSE OF NOT WORKING AND STILL RECEIVING PAY. It's insulting to those of us who are doing the right thing, remaining above reproach, and trying to stay dedicated to our jobs.
Looks like the fed gov just got more efficient a t wasting taxpayer money.

Define “almost all.” I work for the DoD and have been working from home. My entire organization has. About 20 percent have had to go to work for essential activities that cannot be done remotely.
Communism. Paid straight from the govt not to work.

It’s the bad and the good. IRS workers are at home getting full pay - bad. IRS workers are at home but they are not working - good.
It’s probably cheaper than giving them state unemployment plus the $600/week federal unemployment.
Lots of people are getting full state unemployment plus $600/wk from federal gimme money. And they are also doing nothing.
