She shouldn’t be allowed back into that park, though they probably don’t keep a list of visitors. And she better not be thinking of suing anybody. T’was her own fault.

She’s lucky she didn’t fall into that (very) hot springs pool that can cook you alive and then dissolve your corpse to nada.

That's not a feature, it's a bug.

Absolutely zero sympathy, her absence from the gene pool will be of general benefit.

One time when I was at Yellowstone, I saw a crowd of people, cameras in hand, excitedly running across the road toward a meadow. Chasing them were several very worried looking park rangers, yelling and motioning for them to come back.

So, what were these people running to get a picture of? A huge grizzly bear! There are a lot of stupid people in this world.

She wasn't practicing proper thermal feature distancing. Was she at least wearing a face mask?

An aside - Bet one of those was where Tylee and JJ Vallow ended up in. Rangers are supposed to start searching when the snow melts.

The Old Faithful Geyser erupts about every 90 minutes, according to the NPS, and the average water temperature is 169.7 degrees Fahrenheit.

Not according to any source I can find. I became suspicious about the precision of the claimed temperature. First, I checked if that would convert to a common Celsius temperature, which turns out to be 76.5 deg. (C)

Then I looked at the National Park Service website, which states: During an eruption, the water temperature at the vent has been measured at 204°F (95.6C). The steam temperature has been measured above 350°.

So where did this number come from? Thin air? I couldn't find any source that had the temperature that low. Maybe they were talking about the temperature in the pool?

Then I actually looked at the Mercury News article itself and discovered - surprise, surprise - that it originated with CNN. Elsewhere in the article, they mention a man who had fallen into a 212 degree pool and died. Good trick, considering that water boils at just under 200 degrees at that altitude. Once again, we witness shoddy lazy reporting from CNN - but I repeat myself.

Unfortunately, this happens all the time when the Park is open. She's lucky she lived. The boardwalks aren't there to make the Park look pretty, they are there to keep people safe when approaching terrain that can easily boil a human alive.

And there are always the dopes who don't understand the "wild" in wild animals. We were camping up there when one morning a bison ambled through the campground. Luckily, everyone froze until it wandered back out. You have no idea how big they are until you are close to one. Yuge!

Three teen summer employees tried to jump into a Yellowstone pool at night a few years ago. They thought it was a cold pool.

They were whipped off to the burn unit in Salt Lake City. One survived.
