Proof? Not just an article about one doctor. Real proof just like exists for very other treatment. Otherwise your statement is an opinion, which is fine, but that does not make it true, only a hypothesis that is yet to be verfied.
I believe it works, but in combination with zinc, antibiotics and other drugs, the most effective formulation is not yet known. And it clearly is more effective when used early, vs after people are already very sick, including as a prophylactic. This is based on my reading of how HCQ works to change the pH of the cell membrane that prevents the virus from taking over the cell and reproducing, thus creating more severe symptoms. And how it has the ability to modulate cytokine storms that can lead to death.
I will now argue your side by saying that from my reading I’ve found no strong argument against using HCQ under compassionate use guidelines, as even in the absence of “proof” or calling it a “cure”, it helps the vast majority of patients suffering covid-19 symptoms per articles like this: https://aapsonline.org/hcq-90-percent-chance/
I’d call it a “potential cure” and if I had the virus, I’d want to take it.

The have been hundreds of real word treatments with swimming success. You've sen them and we've all sen them. But I'll buy the "potential cure" angle since there have been no double blind studies that I know of (not enough time). But I'll take anecdotal any day over the FDA.
