Some have asked, why take the job as Attorney General if I knew I would have to recuse myself from the investigation? I knew no such thing. I wasn’t informed of Comey’s secret investigation until after I became Attorney General, and the investigation wasn’t publicly confirmed by the FBI until weeks after my recusal.

In January of 2017, Sessions, at his confirmation hearing, was asked if he would recuse himself from any Clinton investigations. Sessions said yes

On March 2 Sessions announced that he would recuse himself in any investigations “related in any way to the campaign for president of the United States”.

Session is playing fast and loose with his wording in this letter.

Jeff didn't know he would have to recuse himself from the investigation.

Jeff did know he would have to recuse himself if there was an investigation.

And once there was an investigation where he would have to recuse himself, instead of leaving the investigation in the hands of Rob Rosenweasel, he instead SHOULD HAVE RESIGNED.

C...Y...A

Why not honorably resign, leaving the AG job in clean hands?

Instead, he just hung around watching the walls crumble around the POTUS, with nobody having the practicable authority to mount a counteroffensive against the barrage of illegal activity. Putz.

Sessions: [Mr. Tuberville is an opportunist who isn’t from here. He stopped here for work for a while, and moved on, eventually retiring in Florida. He doesn’t know the first thing about Alabama. He says the President is wrong on China, says we must import foreign workers to take American jobs, and up until a few months ago, he said he favors amnesty for illegal immigrants. If you don’t like his position on an issue, just wait a few weeks and he will change it. His house is built on sand.]

As Senator, Sessions won’t have to recuse himself again. And he’s better than open borders China panderer Tommy Tuberville, who sounds like a tough-talking, but do-nothing Chamber of Commerce RINO like Dubya. Dubya talked tough on the border and China, but gave away the farm. Sessions has always been solid on immigration and foreign policy.

Timeline leading up to Sessions' recusal:

Timeline

He was sworn in on February 9, 2017. He recused himself on March 2, 2017. He wasn't even in the office for a month before he recused himself. According to this timeline:

"In a statement released March 2, Sessions said he had met with 'relevant senior career department officials' in the previous several weeks to discuss whether he should recuse himself and, "having concluded those meetings today, I have decided to recuse myself from any existing or future investigations of any matters related in any way to the campaigns for president of the United States.' "

Well, the conversations he says he had with senior career department officials over a period of "several weeks," makes it sound like he had begun to discuss his recusal as soon as he was sworn in, considering he was in the job for only 22 days when he recused himself.

Much nonsense verbiage by a coward. He knew the entire setup was a sham because he knew he participated in no criminal activity. His recusal was cowardice under cover of moralistic purity, a condition unique to certain southern gentlemen.

Thanks Jeff. You are a great American and more importantly you did the right thing. The President has been wrong about a few things, and his turning on you was one of them.

That being said, i’ve always supported you completely and in the face of many FReepers who disagreed with me. I have never doubted you for a moment. You are a man of God and a good man who is one of the few true conservatives in politics. I hope the people of Alabama come to their senses and agree. exchange Tubberville for a patriot like you? that’s their choice, but imo, that’s a bad deal all the way around.

Of course, i’ve already written many checks for you and i will continue to support you, win, or lose. Thank God for you Jeff Sessions, i’m praying for you to beat the odds and come through, in Jesus Name. Amen.

Jeff “Rip Van” Sessions is a ‘good guy’... or, as a friend of mine would say: “he’s so good, he’s good for nothing”.

Trump should have picked for AG a ‘bad boy’ like Chris Christie, and things would have been different.

Big Mistake!

Donald needed a Pit Bull, not a freaking Chiwawa!

PS: I know...2020 hindsight... whatever.

If, as he claims, he did not know of Comey’s investigation until after a few weeks...I am sorry, at the next SECOND...he should have resigned.

He should have given President Trump the opportunity to have a WORKING ATTORNEY GENERAL.

The President of the United States was without an Attorney General at a crucial time. That is unforgivable, in my opinion.

That Sessions recused himself, without protest or self-defense and without the courtesy of informing the President is conduct unbecoming of a Southern Gentleman. One of the knives in Trump’s back has Sessions’ fingerprints all over it. Nothing he says can erase his treachery.
