Speaking of reporters, here's a quote from a book I'm reading...it's written by a guy, *pre-World-War-1*, who took a walking tour of Europe from France to Rome.

You can *feel* the lack of stifling bureaucracy and lack of PC on every page; just by the carefree way of talking, and the things taken for granted which one wouldn't consider now.

But it seems journalists haven't changed much since then:

"...journalists, who know nothing of morning save that it is a time of jaded emptiness when you have just done prophesying (for the hundredth time) the approaching end of the word, when the floors are beginning to tremble with machinery, and when, in a weary kind of way, one feels hungry and alone: a nasty life and usually a short one."
