At the inn, patients get a room to themselves and three meals a day, as well as in-person checkups from MGH medical providers, all at no cost. They have television and free wifi. But they also must choose to be confined, to forgo home-cooked meals and the care of their loved ones, to submit to a certain level of surveillance and abstain from going outside. Its a respite albeit a lonely, difficult one.

Golden Banana...that was the one! My first venture into the world of bad beer, and worse women.
You must be talking about Kappy's. I miss that place, they always had great prices and huge selection. There was a roast beef place right next door that I would stop at as well.
Anyway, not sure if you are familiar with the area but down by Saint Anthony's in Revere, on Squire Road, they had this motel called the Paul Revere Inn. Aside from the CIrcus Circus in Vegas, that was the skankiest hotel I ever stayed in! That too was right across from a huge liquor store (Blanchards).
Good one! They also had perhaps the biggest concentration of sub shops I've ever seen. I remember the Sub-Villa on Route 1 and the Santoros on Route 60 coming out of the airport. Sub shops were everywhere. I would always get the fried egg & mushroom. So good.
Don't forget Kelly's Roast Beef on the beach. A landmark. But I never got the roast beef there - always the clam plate.
Yes a friend of mine from Ohio stayed
there last yr, indeed right on the
Saugus-Revere line.Lately when I travel through PA and OH I have stayed at Qualitys
(I live in Boston area).
Tend to avoid Motel 6s these days though
Wilkes Barre is good.Crafton PA—
parking lot in horrible shape. Windsor
Locks CT across from Bradley Field—door of second floor room kept being blown
open by wind, even when I locked it!
I was relocated to first floor.
For true insanity, look at California buying tobacco, alcohol, cannabis and illegal drugs for their homeless in quarantine.
I guess free isn't cheap enough. The article seems so cheap and petty. Like there was nothing bad to report about the care or accommodations, so they resorted to complaining about the wrong ethnic food. Then they worry about paying for food when they leave. I felt worried, because once I was out of the hotel, I needed to start buying my food, and paying for my stuff."
One of the assignments my kid has had here in San Diego is working at one of these "quarantine hotels". Here in SD it's a lot nicer place than most (low) Quality Inns. Many of the people they care for are folks that can't quarantine at home because they have at risk family members. She hasn't mentioned complaints, and most were just happy when she shows up to check on them and take vitals and dispense meds. It's one of their few interactions with a person.
I know just where the Paul Revere Inn is. You’re a braver man than I to have stayed there. Found a cigar store right there in the clutch awhile ago (ABC I think). I’m guessing money, or lack of an abundance, played a role in you staying there and Circus Circus.
Bill and Bob’s was the roast beef place next to Kappy’s. Good stuff when you needed it at 2 in the morning. Recently sold and is now ‘Glen’s Roast Beef’. Seemed like like throwing a lot if good will out the window to change the name.
That Saint Anthony's Church next door was pretty massive though. You usually don't see churches that big outside of major cities.
And a great Roast Beef shop too.
The best subs are at the New Deal on lower Broadway.

I’ve driven by hundreds of times but never went in. Now I have the predicament that if I go in then I realize what I was missing all these years.
I do occasionally go to Luberto’s up the street for a great cup of cappuccino and a cannoli.
