California Demonrats have been engaged in stealing GOP seats since 1962 when they disenfranchised the GOP majority (and again in 1972 and 1982) via gerrymandering. They were “forced” to draw a fair number in 1992, which put the GOP on track to the majority. But since their peak in 1994-95, the Dems have been simply stealing seats outright since 1996, eliminating the 26-26 tie down to 46-7 (now 6 Republicans) in Congressional seats. No Republican has been allowed to defeat a Dem incumbent for Congress since 1994 in the state. Think about the sheer number of races since, 53 House seats up every cycle and not one Dem defeated. Not only is it ludicrously impossible that even one hasn’t been defeated in 26 years, it is a statistical impossibility unless you count cheating as a reason.
Even if we win back the stolen seat taken by Katie “Throuple” Hill in a few days, it still will not break the 26-year record of no Dem incumbent being defeated in CA federally, because there is no Dem incumbent here. I expect if the Republican does win, the seat will be promptly stolen right back in November via the usual fraud and deceit.
Did you just move the goalpost from Rs have never flipped a seat in CA to Rs have never won a seat held by a D incumbent?
True in the House, though Arnold won a seat held by a D gov.
Anyway, I think we’ll get 2-3 flips from D incumbents in the fall as well.
