I regard the six-foot rule as asinine. Even if most or even all of the people in a grocery store are wearing some kind of masks, most masks - especially improvised ones - are only partially effective in blocking viruses.
So if you have a couple of hundred people circulating in a grocery store during the day, they will all have contributed something to the air that is being breathed. The place I am standing now was occupied a few moments ago by someone else, and a few moments earlier by yet another person.
We don't carry our six-foot shields around with us; we aren't walking around in bubbles with a 12-foot diameter.

EXACTLY. This is all magical thinking and mind games. “Forced audience participation, we’re bein’ oppressed!” And if the Chinese Flu can get into your eyeballs, we’re all going to get our turn anyhow.
