Southwest Airlines joins other major carriers in requiring passengers to mask up

Southwest Airlines is joining other major carriers in requiring passengers and employees who interact with them to wear face masks.

Starting Sunday, the Dallas-based airline’s employees who have contact with passengers will be required to don face coverings. Passengers will be required starting May 11.

JetBlue started the trend April 27 when it said travelers would have to cover their noses and mouths during trips, beginning next week. Delta, Alaska, United and American quickly followed.

Masks have been proven to be ineffective. They are just a form of tyrannical virtue signaling.

The paranoid, brainwashed Karens are determined to force everyone to wear a mask. They don’t care that many people can’t breathe in masks.

All of this insanity for a little virus with a 99.5% survival rate. We are truly a nation of gullible sheep.

“I called for all airline passengers to wear masks months ago.”

Yeah, but what if you’re a paranoid idiot?

A CIO told a friend of mine, “You should be paranoid, I am and it’s never steered me wrong.”

“Lol. So you just admitted that wearing a mask is worthless because it’s not protecting you.”

I can’t help you with that attempted reasoning.

“Or are you saying that the masks are only effective if worn by the infected?”

They’re definitely effective if Vectors are prevented from wholesale spraying. They’re also effective if healthy people can filter out most of the virons.

Again, that’s the logic in South Korea and Taiwan, where both countries have near-zero new cases.

“And that would give you a delightful orgasm, I’m sure.”

If it’s a FluBro ENDANGERING other passengers who gets walked off in handcuffs, then ABSOLUTELY!

“Why would someone not wear a mask in a public place?”

Why would you wear a contaminated mask? Do you properly don and doff a fresh mask each time? I know, you just stuff it in your pocket or place it in the center console of your car and put it back on again. Don’t lie to us, you do.

“Restaurants are problematic. You have to take the mask off to eat.” Really?
I suppose that’s a shout out to Captain Obvious.

“Sporting events, masks won’t do much good if people are yelling.”
THERE WILL BE NO SPORTING EVENTS

Not saying’ that the WuhanChina virus isn’t a highly contagious somewhat lethal disease, but don’t buy into the political CON job that it is now.

“Why would someone not wear a mask in a public place?”

Half the deaths are within commuting distance - on filthy subways - of New York City. In the rest of the country, over half of deaths are in nursing homes. So for the rest of us, about 15,000 deaths total among 300 million people.

And it primarily needs sustained contact with an infected person. A friend of ours died with coronavirus, if not from it. His wife did not catch it. It just isn’t as easy to catch as the FearBros make out.

FLYING:

“On all modern aircraft, passengers and crew breathe a mixture of fresh and recirculated air. Using this combination rather than fresh air only makes it easier to regulate temperature and helps maintain a bit of humidity (more on the humidity in a moment). The supply is bled from the compressor sections of the engines. Compressed air is very hot, but the compressors only compress; there is no contact with combustion gasses. From there it is plumbed into air conditioning units for cooling. It’s then ducted into the cabin through louvers, vents, and the eyeball gaspers above your seat.....

Studies have shown that a crowded airplane is no more germ-laden than other enclosed spaces—and usually less. Those underfloor filters are described by manufacturers as being of hospital quality. I needn’t be reminded that hospitals are notorious viral incubators, but Boeing says that between 94 and 99.9 percent of airborne microbes are captured, and there’s a total changeover of air every two or three minutes — far more frequently than occurs in offices, movie theaters, or classrooms.”

https://www.askthepilot.com/questionanswers/cabin-air-quality/

FWIW, I’m a FluBro. I also plan to fly next week coast to coast. I’ll wear a mask because the airline I’m going to fly on requires it. Not because it think it will do squat all to reduce infection of other passengers or my probability of catching something.

The air inside a commercial airliner isn’t quite as pure as open Arizona air, but it is probably safer than the air one finds in WalMart.

"Not saying’ that the WuhanChina virus isn’t a highly contagious somewhat lethal disease, but don’t buy into the political CON job that it is now.

I don't see it as a political con job. I know people who are treating it as a hoax because they think it's a political con job. And they put themselves and others at risk because they don't social distance.

It IS a political dilemma. We can't keep the economy closed for much longer. But the data says we aren't ready to reopen. We flattened new cases but haven't gotten new cases to fall.

Masks are one of the things we can do to help mitigate a disaster when we reopen. But I don't think we're prepared for that either. I haven't seen masks at the stores yet. They've been mentioned in the federal guidelines and my state's guidelines. But I don't see them being emphasized much.

Airlines are doing it because they want their customers back. Smart move on their part. They should have done it a long time ago.

I think we are going to reopen. And two to three weeks later shut down again. Hope I'm wrong.

Naa - it’s mainly breathing - what’s expelled from sick people.

Expect to be told that early next year, although Asian countries already know this.

“If they’re packed as tightly as an SWA 737 with recirculating air for 4 hours, then YES.”

The air inside an airliner recirculates every 2-3 minutes. It flows from the ceiling to the floor. 50% is vented. The remaining 50% then goes thru hospital grade filters. To it is added an equal volume of air from outside the aircraft, which apart from being at 30,000 feet is also heated hot enough to kill viruses and then cooled and mixed.

The air inside an airliner is darn pure once you get airborne. And the planes are sanitized daily. It is one of the cleanest places you can go. Much cleaner than WalMart, restaurants or most any other building.
