Southwest Airlines is joining other major carriers in requiring passengers and employees who interact with them to wear face masks.
Starting Sunday, the Dallas-based airlines employees who have contact with passengers will be required to don face coverings. Passengers will be required starting May 11.
JetBlue started the trend April 27 when it said travelers would have to cover their noses and mouths during trips, beginning next week. Delta, Alaska, United and American quickly followed.

Basic common sense.
But I guess common isn’t too common these days.
Why would someone not wear a mask in a public place?
Unless they think they are invincible or that the virus is a hoax.
FORGET IT!!
How about if you show up with a mask but no pants or shirt?
Oh well, no need anymore for barf bags, just throw up in the mask.
Except masks dont prevent transmission. But thanks for the insult to trjose of us who like liberty
Everyone should show up looking like The Unknown Comic
Next, they’ll be demanding everyone sit on the tarmac for hours in a hazmat burka during delays. How do these Dumbf*ks plan to verify who someone is with their faces covered?
“Are you calling for masks at high school basketball games or in theaters or restaurants too ?”
If they’re packed as tightly as an SWA 737 with recirculating air for 4 hours, then YES. I’m really not into getting sick, just to visit relatives.
Unfortunately, it seems we didn't lock down hard enough. We are still having 30,000 new cases a day. We've seen a flattening but not a drop.
They really need to understand where the spread is occuring better.
Where are the new cases coming from?
We reopened Tennessee restaurants on Monday for half occupancy. Today we saw a 10% increase in cases in a single day. I think it's because they tested the prisons, but I'm not sure.
“Except masks dont prevent transmission.”
Tell that to Taiwan, where they have ZERO transmission and MANDATORY masks. Pretty much the same for South Korea now, too.
...but fine, keep thinking that way, I’d rather NOT have to share the cabin with you guys anyway.
“I think it’s because they tested the prisons, but I’m not sure.”
At this stage of the game where we are still ramping up testing, of course we will keep seeing higher numbers of infected people.
What needs to be looked at is the percentage of sick people versus the number of tested people.
They will provide masks if you dont have one. No drinks or food will be served, so no vodka tonics. I read their stupid policy. So stupid. This is insane.
South Korea went with prophylactic use of hydroxychloroquine. That’s a damned sight more effective than a mask.
“South Korea went with prophylactic use of hydroxychloroquine. Thats a damned sight more effective than a mask.”
...and masks.
Of course you did. There is not a freedom or right that you would not trade for the illusion of safety. You are the worst kind of scared.
The sky is falling! The sky is falling!
Then dont go visit. Leave me alone! I am not your slave to bend to your will. Everyone must suffer for your selfish fears?
Drive. Enjoy it. All that "fly-over" country is where America lives. You can detour around the enemy provinces.
“If they’re packed as tightly as an SWA 737 with recirculating air for 4 hours,...”
But you were OK with it before for the right price, right ?
“But you were OK with it before for the right price, right ?”
Of course, since I didn’t get sick, perhaps lethally, from flying.
