A welcome mat at the front door of a Florida home read come back with a warrant and thats just what deputies did before finding drugs and drug paraphernalia inside.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the home in Palm Coast was part of an investigation into illegal drugs. After seeing the doormat, authorities say the Flagler County Sheriffs Office got the warrant. Deputies found fentanyl and drug paraphernalia inside during a search late last week.

Anything your decor says can and will be used against you.

I take issue with calling it a welcome mat. That message doesn’t seem very welcoming.

There is an old saying: Never do something illegal, when youre doing something illegal.
We could modify that: Never do something stupid when youre doing something stupid.
But likely they were too stupid to know that.

Every other state I bet 90/10 it’s a black dude. Florida is 50/50 :-)

I just saw that welcome mat on Amazon and bought it 2 days ago! True, those who think it is funny and want to buy it maybe have had too much experience with police/sheriffs. I have three teen boys. . .
To: nickcarraway
Well, he did ask the police to get a warrant.

You may want to use it on the back door.
To: nickcarraway
Yep. I’d already figured it might be too provocative to place at the front door. :)

If the residents were under investigation popo should not have come with out a warrant the first time.

Another milestone ( make that doormat) on the long march toward victory in the war against drugs.

A welcome mat with those words, though stupid, would not constitute probable cause justifying issuance of a warrant. They had other evidence of illegal activity in the house.

ROTFLOL!
The story won't do much for the sales of what must have seemed like a really cool welcome mat when the guy bought it.
